Star Citizen Crowd Funding Concludes; New Video

Star Citizen’s incredibly successful crowd-funding campaign has come to an end. Between Kickstarter and the official website, over $5,747,710 has been raised to make this project a reality.

Through Kickstarter alone, 34,397 backers pledged $2,134,374, quadrupling the $500,000 goal asked for. Combined with pledges through the game’s website, the donations blasted past nine stretch goals, with over 1500 backers pledging $250 or more.

Check out this video showing a piece of concept art translated into CryEngine 3:

That’s just beautiful.

If you haven’t seen the Star Citizen pilot AI test footage, be sure to check that out as well.

Did you help crowd fund Star Citizen, and if not, do you plan on buying it?

I am one of those 1500 backers actually, and let me just say that I wasn’t aware just how many other space sim fans there were, but I was willing to drop $500 on this gem in order to see this beautiful existence come forth.

Currently the final crowdfund is $6,313,112 ( RSI: $4,178,738 + Kickstarter: $2,134,374 ) from 90,840 backers, and they still can pledge on the RSI site so the crowdfund might go even higher :)

I’m one of those 1500 backers too because I strongly believe in the vision of Chris Roberts on Star Citizen, and because he is *passioned in the future of the PC gaming* like nobody else since a very, very, very long time. And he’s right to do so, and I really hope that Star Citizen will succeed !

I was and old player on EVE Online, but left when CCP lost its imagination, creativity and dedication to their game, and since I never found a space game which interest me until now.

I’m happy, almost to the point of tears, that this project will go ahead. I’ve been desparately waiting for another game like freelancer, as I’m a huge fan of Space-Sims, and especially Space-RPGs. (FYI I pledged $125 for the Freelancer).

I payed what Black Ops 2 costs at retail over here, and I believe it is a FAR BETTER investment of my money and hopes

Actually, there is a grace period of one week for those who wanted to pledge during the last 48h but couldn’t due to the numerous RSI site’s crashes. You can read it here :
