Star Wars: Attack Squadrons: Free-To-Play Space Combat Is Coming!

Disney just took the wraps off of Star Wars: Attack Squadrons, a free-to-play starfighter combat title coming in 2014.

Attack Squadrons is classic Star Wars; the Rebel Alliance versus the Galactic Empire, X-Wings versus TIE Fighters. Disney is touting 16-slot multiplayer with three game modes: Free For All (DM), Team Dogfight (TDM), and Base Defense. Customization seems to be a major factor, too — think custom paint jobs for your Rebel or Empire fighter of choice.

Expect more details in the coming weeks, but enjoy the trailer up top, and sign up for the beta here if you’re so inclined.

So….. anyone still think Bioware doing starfighters on rails was a good idea?

So will pilots of all destroyed ships parachute to safety GI-Joe style? That would be consistent with the Disney CEO’s stance on videogame violence. Or does Star Wars get a pass because its fantasy space warfare..or more likely because its nom-nom $$$$.
