Star Wars: The Old Republic’s ‘Rise of the Hutt Cartel’ Gets a Trailer
The Hutts are taking over the planet of Makeb, which means you need to get there and kick their huge fat asses in Star Wars: The Old Republic.
Or at least, that’s what I assume from this new trailer previewing a little bit of the story of “Rise of the Hutt Cartel.”
You can check out the trailer below, which sort of details what’s going on if you buy Rise; namely, the Hutts are expanding their influence and taking hold of Makeb at the expense of the planet’s residents. Sounds a bit like a certain blockade by a certain trade federation in order to place certain political pressure in the favor of a certain Sith Lord….
Pre-ordering the expansion also comes with three in-game extras: the “The Dr. Oggurobb Hutt Holostatue,” a portable training device; a “Makrin Seedling Mini-Pet” to follow you around; and a new title, “Scourge of the Hutts.”
Anyway, Makeb is also notable because it’s the first planet to include same-gender romance options, a much-talked-about topic in SWTOR circles. It also spun off a little controversy about people interpreting the expansion as gay characters being exiled to the planet. Anyway, the expansion takes players up to level 55, is fully voiced, and will run you $19.99 if you’re not a subscriber. If you are a subscriber, you’ll get it for the delicious price of $10.
I dunno about you guys, but I, for one, welcome our new giant slug overlords.
