EA and Starbreeze Studios have announced that they are partnering up to reinvent a classic EA franchise. And that franchise is…well, they didn’t say (when did game developers becomes such teases). Right now they are only revealing that game’s code name (“Project RedLime”) and that it will be available for the PS3, Xbox 360, and PC. Considering Starbreeze Studios has made a name for itself by reinventing franchises (Chronicles of Riddick: Escape From Butcher Bay, The Darkness), this is definitely one game to keep a look out for.
“EA Partners gives independent developers like Starbreeze access to EA’s unrivaled global publishing infrastructure, letting us focus our energy on what we do best – making incredible games,” said Johan Kristiansson, CEO of Starbreeze Studios. “We’re already deep in development on Project RedLime and the team at EA is giving us the time we need to perfect our vision. We’re excited to bring a new perspective and gameplay innovation to this beloved fiction.”
With EA’s huge library, it’s hard to even speculate on what game they could be working on. Still, I’m keeping my fingers crossed for “SSX Riddick.”

loved the “strike” series back in the early ’90′s. (desert strike, jungle strike, urban strike…um…suburban strike?)

If you have watched EA over the years, it is easy to know which game this is. I’ll give you a big hint: EA is well known for surveying the market and making derivative games which sell well. For example EA saw the phenomenal success that Activision had with Guitar Hero and low and behold EA created Rock Band. Last year EA saw the great success Take 2 had with Bioshock, so what classic game do you think EA is going to remake using an experienced FPS developer like Starbreeze?
