Startup Adds Rewards to Mobile Game Achievements

A new startup from some of the guys behind Digg aims to give gamers something tangible for their achievements.

The new service will work in targeted advertising to certain games that are tailored to the particular players. Mobile games on Apple’s iOS platform and Google’s Android operating system both receive achievements through services like Apple’s Game Center and OpenFeint.

The seven-month-old service, Kiip (pronounced “keep”), works with partners like Carls Jr., Popchips, Sephora and Dr. Pepper to provide coupons and free stuff when gamers snag certain achievements. Kiip is keeping secret which 15 games and it’s working with because it wants players to find their free stuff naturally, but all told there are about 12 million active users privy to its new ad network.
