State of Decay Dev Extends Deal With Microsoft

On the blog for State of Decay developers Undead Labs, studio founder Jeff Strain revealed that they’ve extended whatever deal they’ve had with Microsoft that led State of Decay to be an Xbox Live exclusive for a while before it made its way to the PC.

“I wanted to let you know we’ve signed a multi-year, multi-title agreement to extend our development relationship with Microsoft Studios. We’ll be able to share details later this year, but as with State of Decay, we think it’s best if we just keep our heads down and build some prototypes before we talk too much.”

So, yeah, no details there really, but one would assume that means Undead Labs’ next couple games will at least be timed esclusives to the Xbox family before also releasing on PC or mobile. And no PlayStation version will happen. This is a big get for MS in the new-gen indie war, as State of Decay was a nice hit for them last year.

I wish them success, and I hope they get even better at doing PC ports in the future, whenever that happens again.
