‘Stealth Survival’ République Rallies to Hit Kickstarter Goal

Spiffy sounding and fairly ambitious Kickstarter project République has squeaked in under the wire to nail its funding goal of $500,000, ensuring that the project will be funded.

It almost didn’t happen. Kickstarter requires that projects hit their stated funding goals, or the project doesn’t receive any of the pledged funding. Just about two days ago, République was substantially short of its goal — as much as $200,000. It looked as if it might not make it.

But a rally with the help of developer Camouflaj founder Ryan Payton (formerly of Kojima Productions and 343 Studios) such voice cast members as Jennifer Hale (Mass Effect) and David Hayter (Metal Gear Solid) and a pick-up in media coverage, République managed to raise $200,000 in less than 72 hours. And now it’ll bring “stealth survival action” to PC and Mac, as well as mobile platforms, as the vision for the game originally entailed.
