Steam’s Survey Shows Windows 8 Already Beating Mac

According to the latest Steam hardware survey, Windows 8 is becoming the fastest growing operating system among Steam users, with 4.69% of the distribution platform’s users employing it. Microsoft’s latest OS has even overtaken the combined Mac OS X variants. As a point of comparison, Windows 7 dominates the chart with just under 75% of the user base, with Windows XP maintaining a healthy second place, with just over 10% of users.

Windows 8 experienced a 2.66% growth relative to last month’s survey, while Windows 7 and XP experienced small declines of less than 1%.

The hardware survey is an opt-in service, so the polled data only reflects those users who were willing to partake.

Windows 8 can kiss my Backside. Wont touch it with a 15K pole. Hope they do better with the next. I tend to skip every other gen. Skipped Vista without a care.

I only just got Windows 7 about six months ago, chances are I’ll skip 8 completely.
