Steam Adding Remote Game Installs

A new beta client is available for Steam, and it features a handy tool that lets you remotely manage your Steam library, either from a mobile device or another computer.

All you need to do to remotely download games to your computer is leave Steam running on your system, then log into your Steam account through any web browser, anywhere — on a mobile, from a friend’s house, or while logged into your college’s wifi on your laptop.

The beta client’s three changes are:

  • Remote management of your games library through the web or mobile device
  • Reduced excessive system memory usage while downloading updates in some cases
  • Added debug code to diagnose download issues
