Steam Adds New Week Long Deals
Steam has added new week-long deals, offering four titles for up to 75% off until February 18th. The four relatively obscure games are FlatOut, Steel Storm: Burning Retribution, Alpha Prime, and Karateka.
FlatOut (not Fallout) is 75% off, available for $1.87. Released in 2005, the “adrenaline-filled muscle car racing game” scored 72/100 on Metacritic.
2011′s Steel Storm: Burning Retribution is 50% off, available for $2.49. A “top down action shooter with old school spirit,” Steel Storm: Burning Retribution scored 55/100 on Metacritic, which means you may want to avoid it, even for a couple of bucks.
Alpha Prime , released in 2007, is 75% off, available for $1.25. With a Metacritic score of 59/100, this one doesn’t exactly seem to be a winner either, and a cursory glance at gameplay footage reveals that it is a dark, sci-fi FPS.
Karateka, released in December 2012, doesn’t even have a listed Metacritic score and is 50% off, available for $4.99. From Prince of Persia creator Jordan Mechner, Karateka is a “side-scrolling karate classic” with art by Jeff Matsuda (The Batman) and music by Grammy-winning composer Christopher Tin (Civilization IV). Game Informer and Machinima Inside Gaming seemed to enjoy it, scoring the game 8/10.
I’ll admit — none of these titles seem like winners. But for the cost of a cup of coffee, you may just find an esoteric game that tickles your fancy.
