Steam Gets an iPhone App — Now You Can Impulse Buy Games While Pooping

Just when you thought you could escape needlessly buying games you’ll never play during Steam sales by finally leaving your house, Gabe Newell and crew have outsmarted you again by offering a Steam iPhone app.

Short of actually playing games, the Steam app seems to support pretty much everything you get out of the PC version, including the ability to see your friends list, view game page, and buy things without really thinking it through. You can also add stuff to your wishlist and gift games.

The app is available right now for free, but it won’t work for everyone; Valve is sending out beta invites to users and rolling out the iOS functionality slowly. If you download the app and sign in with your account, the app says that Valve is taking note of you for future invites, but it doesn’t say when those invites might be headed out.

If you still feel the need, you can download the Steam app here.
