Steam Locks PC Gamers Out of MW3 Until Late Tomorrow

We’ve all been there. Staring in disbelief at the Steam screen as it proffers some ridiculous unlock time. Then the outraged cry: “People who went to the midnight launch get to play right away!” Followed by further remonstration: “Why can’t someone at Steam just get off their ass and unlock it already! All it takes is the push of a button!”

This sequence is about to be repeated thousands and thousands of time across America, as dedicated Modern Warfare 3 fans learn that the hotly anticipated title won’t be available for PC consumption until 8AM PST. That means a roughly seven-hour head start for those willing to leave the confines of their home to purchase a copy of the game. With 6.5 million pre-orders logged for the game, that’s likely to be a lot of people. Keep an eye out for CoD-loving celeb Chad Ochocinco if you’re headed to a Boston-area GameStop.

There’s been no explanation for the delay. Maybe Activision wants to be fair to Hawaiian MW3 fans (those selfish, island-dwelling scum!). Maybe they’re trying to stagger the launch to reduce load on the servers. Either way, if you’ve ordered MW3 on Steam, prepare to rage until tomorrow morning.

This is complete crap. Steam owes it’s users a MASSIVE explanation. You advertise your pre-loading so that people can play right on the release and then you delay it??? Absolutely not, I planned on playing with friends tonight and built my plans around it. If i had known they were going to do this, I would never have bought it from steam. If they don’t have a good explanation… I never will again.

I didn’t preorder MW3. I WAS going to impulsively grab it via STEAM 5 mins ago, but it doesn’t unlock until noon my time.

Sale lost.

(Sorry, Infinity Ward)

Hasn’t the countdown timer been up for like…5 days? Something close to it. You never bothered to check…or do the math? Really? And you want an explanation? Hahahaha, explanation.

Seriously, all of us (at one time or another) have gotten the short end of the stick when it came to game releases or expansion pack releases. To be honest yeah it sucks, but on the other hand how would any of us feel if we were hard at work and there was a group of people whining, crying and carrying on about how we aren’t doing our job right or doing it fast enough etc… We as gamers (me for over 30 years) should take a minute, step back and think about that, after all it’s just a game.

It’s also my $60.00 which they took right away when I pre ordered it a week ago. The game is unlocking now and it looks like it’s gonna take an hour or more to do that too. It’s a piss poor system they have. I could have crawled to Game Stop and bought the game and had it up and running by now. I won’t every pre order with them again. The retail version as I understand it doesn’t have all the hoop to jump thru. Steam I hope you read this. Origin didn’t pull this crap with Battlfield 3 I downloaded it and it was ready to play seconds after the time limit was reached. So spare me the B.S. excuses
