Steam on PS3 Features Cloud Saving, Friends List

Valve has said that the definitive version of Portal 2 will be the one released on the Playstation 3 — and now the company has detailed exactly what all the cool features are that will be coming with it.

Specifically, Portal 2 marks the launch of Steam for PS3. The biggest new feature is the ability to save Portal 2 co-op and single-player games to Steam’s cloud servers, so you can pick them up again from any PS3.

That’s a pretty cool feature, although right now it’s Portal 2 exclusive except for Playstation Plus members (who can save games to Sony’s cloud with any game). Steam on PS3 will also support achievements, messages and Friends lists from Steam, as well the ability to track through your profile and those of others.

Basically, everything you get on your Steam account, you get on your PS3-linked Steam account. And as we’ve already heard, Portal 2 allows you to play co-op games with your friends on Steam.

Oh, and if you buy Portal 2 on PS3, you also get a Steam copy for PC. File under “awesome.”
