Steam PC Users Favor Intel CPUs, Nvidia Video and 2GB RAM
Steam is a great platform for game delivery, but did you know it looks under the hood of all the PCs accessing it as well?
Every month or so the company even makes the statistical information available online for hardware grognards to consider. The details read like a litmus test of what the most common, average gaming PC on the service is utilizing. The latest figures are out and they show some interesting facts. Many of us wonder how we measure up compared to our peers and this is a perfect way to find out.
For me, the more interesting details of the report cover the adoption of DirectX 10 and DircetX 11 native hardware and the relatively large number (25%) of quad-core systems playing games on Steam. Also shocking was the revelation that almost 50% of all the systems use between 2 and 4GB of RAM and over 50% of gamers have 512MB or more of Video RAM. You can also use these statistics to see what parts are trending as gamers buy new systems or upgrade old ones.
