Stinky Footboard Passes Kickstarter Goal, Set for June Launch
Starting in June, the Stinky Footboard will be available for PC gamer feet the world ’round.
SteLuLu Technologies, the company behind the PC foot controller, successfully completed its Kickstarter campaign earlier today. With an initial goal of $75,000, the Stinky Footboard campaign ended with $79,652 in total contributions. The money comes from 479 total contributors.
While its Kickstarter campaign didn’t break any funding records, this was unlike many of the tech and video game crowd-sourcing projects we’ve seen in the past. Many developers and engineers ask for funds based on concept art or prototypes, but SteLuLu already had some production-quality units ready to go — some of which I tried during PAX East back in March. The additional funding wasn’t for R&D, rather it was to keep production going through the spring and summer.
The USB-powered Stinky Footboard allows PC gamers to clone keyboard commands onto the foot controller, via the included software. Using the Footboard allows for more fluid multitaksing in-game, and puts your foot on repetitive task duty (sprinting in an FPS, or buffing teammates in an MMO), while keeping your hands free for other combat commands. RTS players, who crave high APM rates, should take notice, too.
The Stinky Footboard will be available next month for $119.
