Sir Howard Stringer is apparently feeling very good about his company’s home console right now. Following the Christmas holiday, he claims that the system is doing well and is “out of the woods.”
“PS3 has now gone past XBox on the Christmas market. It’s moving into its own as it gets into higher bandwidth … PS3 is out of the woods and beginning to hold its own,” he told Reuters.
He’s right in saying it’s out of the woods; Sony has imploded, Blu-ray is making great strides, and the system is selling. It’s not clear what he meant by saying the PS3 has “gone past” Xbox. While sales in the US don’t reflect that, I can tell you without looking that the PS3 continues to do much better than 360 in other regions. With the upcoming lineup of games this year, Sir Stringer might just be right.

When he is talking about it having ‘gone past the Xbox’ over Christmas I believe he is talking about the fact that worldwide it has outsold the 360 since the beginning of December.

Its definitely not the games since most high ranking and best selling games in 07 are on 360…
