Sucker Punch Staff Cuts Confirmed by Sony

Sucker Punch is laying off a portion of its employees.

The staff cuts were confirmed yesterday by a Sony spokeperson who stated that the developer, best known for the inFamous and Sly Cooper games, is undergoing a round of reductions.

“SCEA can confirm a reduction in workforce has taken place at Sucker Punch Productions,” said Sony in a statement. “Sucker Punch is appreciative of the tremendous work team members contributed to the inFAMOUS and Sly Cooper series, and wishes them the best in their next endeavors.”

While the exact size of the layoffs is currently unknown, we’ve reached out to Sony to see if it would be willing to share any further details as to the depth and scale of the cuts. Sucker Punch itself was founded back in 1997 and is currently owned and run by Sony as a first party studio. Its latest project, standalone DLC for its hit PS4 game inFamous: Second Son, is due to launch later this month.
