Super iam8bit Showcases Game-Inspired Art Tonight in Los Angeles (PICS)
Tonight marks the opening of Super iam8bit, an art show dedicated to art work inspired by 8-bit gaming. I got a chance to check it out during the VIP/press preview night Wednesday (full disclosure: I’m friends with the crew of iam8bit, the production and marketing company behind the show), and have brought back many a photo for my time.
In the meantime, if you’re in Los Angeles, you can hit up the show tonight: 7 to 11 p.m. at 2147 Sunset Blvd. Check out iam8bit’s site for more information. The event is sponsored by Namco as part of its Galaga 30th Anniversary celebration.
Among the cool pieces were life-size 8-bit Legend of Zelda weapons and a Roomba Goomba that actually tracked around the show floor, along with a Roomba red turtle shell. Oh, and a giant five-foot-tall Atari 2600 joystick. If you live in the L.A. area and you can make it out tonight, you should — but remember to line up early.
