Super Mario Crossover V. 1.1 To Feature 100% More Throwing Stars

SMBC Box ArtYes yes, this isn’t technically* a mod, but unless your heart is encased in cold, mottled cast iron, the recent release of the extremely unauthorized, extremely incredible SMB emulator, Super Mario Bros. Crossover made your year. SMBC is an idea so simple it’s shocking no one thought of it before: Super Mario Bros. is one of the greatest games of all time, but wouldn’t it be even better if you could combine it with other OG NES games? Yes, yes it would. And thusly, brilliance was born. Play SMB, exactly as you remember it, except that instead of choosing between Orange overalls and Green overalls, play as Mario, Link, Simon Belmont, Mega Man, Bill from Contra, and Samus.

If you’re like me, you’ve already spent way too much time finding out that Mega Man’s princess is in another castle, while still wishing for more. Luckily, game developer Exploding Rabbit (AKA Jay Pavlina) agrees, because the first update has just been announced. Coming soon, SMBC version 1.1, featuring Ninja Gaiden’s Ryu Hayabusa. Look forward to taking out Bowser’s minions with the exploding power of throwing stars, and exploding ducks.

Below the fold, enjoy the trailer. In the meantime, we’ll be hoping for Street Fighter Crossover, so we can finally find out if Ryu and Ken from Ninja Gaiden are somehow related to Ryu and Ken from SFII.

* By “technically”, we mean “definitely”.

this looks so badass, and I LMAO at all the clips of him hitting the blocks to get the coins.

The best is playing as Samus and getting Ridley’s theme when you’re underground.
