Super Street Fighter 4 Update Will Add Five New Characters

The roster of fighters in Super Street Fighter IV is about to be expanded even further with the inclusion of five new characters, who will do battle on six new stages. It is also set to include major balance tweaks to the existing game. Capcom announced their plans to expand the game at this year’s EVO fighting event.

The characters being added to the roster include Rolento, Poison, Hugo and Elena. The fifth character remains unannounced.

Changes to existing characters are as follows:

HP increase to 950
EX Kikoken knockdown on hit
EX Hazanshu armor break

Dirty Bull now has longer range
Buffalo head has reduced recovery
Lower charge time for higher levels of Turn Around Punch

Short Swing Blow completely throw invincible
Increased damage on all target combos
Larger hitbox on attacks (e.g. Kidney Blow)

Crouching middle kick now special cancelable
Faster walk speed
Improvements to Ultra 2

Existing owners of Street Fighter IV and Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition will be able to download the update for $14.99. Alternatively, a physical disc edition of SSFIV will be released with the new update included, which also carries “all DLC costumes for all characters released until now” and “future content” for $39.99. It’s out in early 2014.

Reprinted from YouTube (but also by me):

I remember Ono promising, when Street Fighter 4 came out, that this time they’d learned their lesson from Street Fighters 2 and 3. THIS time, they wouldn’t kill our interest and love for the series, with lots of little additions with ripoff pricing and almost nothing new spread over many years of time. This time. You lied Capcom. I’m not bending over and taking it from anyone. On disc´╗┐ dlc? Endless SF4 versions? Stuff em; playing KOF instead.
