Supposed US MGS4 Boxart Not Nearly as Cool as Japan’s

Rarely do I ever post about a game‘s box art, but back in February I simply had to when I saw Japan’s Metal Gear Solid 4 box. It was simply awesome. Like, so awesome that even though I’m not a huge MGS fan I’d totally buy a poster of it awesome. PS3 Fanboy is pointing to Amazon, which has posted what appears to be the final US box art for MGS4, and well, it’s not nearly as good.

Sure, it’s still better than most of the garbage out on store shelves, but it’s hard to not complain when Japan is getting something that is order of magnitudes better.

idk, i think it makes it seem even more dramatic in that this could really be the end for Snake.

Us version is magnitudes better than that crappy sketch drawing. Although I am not a fan of the game and do not care at all.

I prefer the Japanese box art. Nearly every PS3 box I’ve seen involves the same, hard-boiled looking (i.e. so much phong they look like they’ve been laminated and enough stubble to convince me that their faces are composed of gravel) heroes striking a dramatic pose. Put this next to Viking: Battle for Asgard and the Beowulf game boxes and it doesn’t stand out alongside other aged anti-heroes with grey/greying hair.

Japan usually gets stuff magnitudes better when it comes to gaming, why should this be any different?

If you’ve got printer, just print out the front of the japanese cover, photoshop the back of the US one on it, and bam: cool cover.

Besides, I probably won’t be looking at the cover much anyways, since I’ll be on my PS3…
