SWTOR Adds Microtransaction Currency Purchasing Through Your Smartphone

Let’s face it,the jump from tightly-restricted free-to-play SWTOR experience to a moderately restricted free-to-play SWTOR experience is a single $4.99 purchase of Cartel Coins, the game’s microtransaction currency. Once you’ve made that investment, much more functionality opens up for you in game. And Bioware wants to make that decision for you as easy as possible with the introduction of the ability to purchase Cartel Coins via a smartphone text.

Before you get too excited, this new functionality is limited to select, non-United States countries. Germany, France, Taiwan, South Korea, Brazil, Turkey, Poland, Russia, Ukraine, Czech Republic, Norway, Sweden, Belgium, Hungary, Spain, Australia, and The Netherlands to be exact through a service called BOKU. And it only applies to buying Cartel Coins, $5 at a time. There is a vague promise to look into SMS billing for other countries as well as other alternate payment options.

What do you think? Would you use SMS billing to buy microtransaction currency over going to the site to use your credit card on file?
