SWTOR Launch Window Announced for Australia and New Zealand

According to a post on the official Old Republic forums, SWTOR now has a confirmed launch window for Australia and New Zealand: spring 2012.

The post states:

We can confirm that Star Wars: The Old Republic will be launching in Australia and New Zealand in the spring of 2012.

Right now we are targeting March 1st, but that could change as our number one priority is making sure that customers have a great service to play on.

For those of you who may have already imported the game, we will be investigating solutions to allow you to continue to play on a local server once they come online in March.

Many Australians have already imported the game, and others looking forward to playing may not wait for spring before getting an imported copy. In order to maintain a healthy population on regional servers, EA will need to allow some means of transferring characters created on North American servers, or some residents will never transfer over given the time investment they’ve made into their character.

Given there’s currently no ETA on an ability to transfer between servers within the same region, we can only hope this feature will be ready by launch day in Australia and NZ.

March is not Spring in the southern hemisphere… Insular much?
