SyFy’s Red Faction: Origins Isn’t As Cheap Looking As I Thought (Video)

Sci Fi Network’s Red Faction: Armageddon tie-in film Red Faction: Origins is probably going to suck. I can’t see how they make a compelling story that is essentially as weighty as a game‘s opening cutscenes. ON the other hand, this is directed by Michael Nankin, frequent BSG director responsible for some of the best episodes of the series, and it stars Robert Patrick as the aging version of Red Faction: Guerrilla’s protagonist Alex Mason. So… there’s that. I guess I’m probably going to watch this.

Have a look at the trailer and decide for yourself.

That does look pretty good.

Yeah, right? It might actually be worth the time. I like the idea of an “I’m too old for this ” Murtaugh Alex Mason.

Too bad it won’t get great ratings at first, Syfy will move it to a new time and then be surprised when it fails

I think this is just a TV movie. if it does well it might end up being spun into a full-on show. But they probably won’t support it either.

I think Robert Patrick could be the game-changer here. He’s left out of the trailer some, but he’s consistently spectacular.
