Syndicate Reboot Effectively Banned in Australia

The Australian Classification Board has refused classification on Starbreeze’s upcoming Syndicate reboot. With the game listed RC on the Classification Board’s website, only a successful appeal will prevent this game from being effectively banned in the land down under.

Any game that rates above “MA 15+” is refused classification — meaning games deemed not suitable for people under the age of 15 don’t pass muster. This can only be a secret government plot to make games in Australia such a rare commodity that its people will understand why games in Australia are overpriced relative to elsewhere in the world.

If you haven’t seen it, check out the Syndicate – Pay Day trailer. If you live in Australia, this may be the closest you’ll get to playing this game.

All the gamers I know in Australia say that all this does is force them to get the game illegally. They either download it from a torrent or buy a pirated copy on the street.

Very few actually have someone in another country they know buy the game and ship it to them.

Piracy is only made worse the more restrictions you place on something. The people who want it will get it no matter what the people in charge say. They are only taking away tax revenue from themselves and all the money that would have gone to the publishers and the company that made the game.

I really wish that governments would step out of our personal lives. Be it a rating on a video game or whether someone wants to smoke marijuana or do other drugs. Its their choice if you want to say that we live in a free society and that all people should be able to have free will.

What someone under 18 (or the legal age in your country) does is up to their parents. Unless the child is being physically or mentally abused or neglected there should be no government intervention at all.

We need to elect people who will stand up for our rights and get rid of all the folks who are sucking at the corporate teet. It’s getting stupid how obvious it is that all politicians are getting paid by these big corporations and it causes things like a video game being banned because of the rating it got. Some group with a lot of money put a lot of their money in the politicians pockets so they would enact these stupid laws.

I really think we need to hang all of the current crop of politicians and everyone higher than middle management in large corporations. Because right now even if one has good intentions by the time they get elected they see all the money and power in front of them and cant turn away. No matter what they thought before they got into politics.
