PC Cyberpunk Game Satellite Reign is Looking Awesome
5 Lives Studios has put together a series of updates of Satellite Reign to stir up interest for the game’s Kickstarter, which seeks a total of £350,000 (~$530k) in funding. As of the time of this writing, the Kickstarter campaign sits at £306,472, and needs slightly less than a quarter of its total goal to be fully funded. There’s a big chance that the game won’t get the money it needs to achieve its goal, hence the company has been releasing a series of updates to stir up interest for the title, which has been billed as a spiritual successor to Bullfrog’s Syndicate Wars. The claim carries a lot of merit, as the lead developer of Satellite Reign, Mike Diskett, was a key developer on both Syndicate Wars and its predecessor, Syndicate.
With only six days left on the clock, the studio released a short trailer of in-engine “gameplay visualization” showing what the game’s futuristic cyberpunk world would look like, should it get the funding it needs to be developed in full. All of this was done in the engine they’re using for Satellite Reign, Unity.
As can be gleamed from the trailer, the game is set to be a squad-based tactical title much like its spiritual predecessors in the Syndicate series. It’s set in an open-world city where you can hack or destroy communications systems, use propaganda and “persuade” citizens to join your cause, sneak around, or go on a shooting rampage.
Last year, EA revived the Syndicate franchise with the release of a first-person shooter.
