TERA Details: Gear, Crafting, Customization
The developers of the upcoming action MMO, TERA, have released details about the weapons, armor and customization available in TERA.
TERA’s weapons and armor are at the heart of the game’s action combat, and crafting is a game in itself, with more than a thousand items to create, use, and sell.
Players can customize their weapons and armor with various magic crystals and enchantments, and TERA also provides a use for the loot players collect but don’t need: enchanting. A sword-wielding warrior, for example, can take the magic energy from an axe and transfer it to his sword, making the sword more powerful. Repeat the enchanting process enough, and the player will “unlock” new abilities and powers for the item.
Players don’t just customize their gear. Each magic spell a player casts or powerful attack a player makes can be customized with magic bonuses called glyphs. When you multiply the possible choices over TERA’s hundreds of skills, it’s easy to see why no two characters should be identical.
Inevitably, players will follow guides on the internet and create cookie-cutter builds, but for those players who like to experiment, it will take a long time for them to exhaust their options.
TERA is scheduled for release in 2011.
