Terraria PC Update May Be Coming

It was almost a year ago that the Terraria developers stated that they’d decide to move on and that there would be no further updates for the 2D Minecraft-esque game. However, a recent forum post suggests that we may yet see another update for the title — at least for the PC version.

On the official forums, one of Terraria’s devs posted:

“Okay, let me pose a hypothetical. Say I am considering doing an update for the PC version of Terraria… In the event that such a thing were to take place, what would be some things that you would be interested in seeing?”

Would you be interested in seeing an update for Terraria, and if so, what would you want it to include?

I would definitely like to see more bosses, and varieties in armor (preferably without further vertical progression). But there’s a feature they once spoke of that was never implemented that I would’ve really liked to see. That is a way for worlds (servers) to be linked to each other so one could travel from one to the other, possible via some form of in-game portal.

I imagine this could be accomplished by a simple item that could be placed in the world that would contain the server info for another world. Interacting with this item would then prompt the client to switch to this other world. So imagine a magic portal that could purchased from an NPC, like the Wizard. This item could then be placed somewhere in the world, just like a sign, and the server info can be input into it. Then any character can walk up to the portal, click “Use” and be transported to the other world. Using this, people hosting servers can link multiple worlds together, each built and themed a certain way.
