TF2′s Mann vs. Machine Two Cities Update Brings New Maps, Goodies

Team Fortress 2 is taking a road trip. The first stop, playable now, is Manhattan.

The Two Cities update for TF2 is now live, with a new map for the Mann vs. Machine horde mode, Manhattan.

There are also some interesting gameplay twists with Two Cities. Most notably, if you complete a Two Cities Tour of Duty, i.e., survive the progressively difficult waves of robots and complete both maps (second to be revealed soon), you’ll receive a Killstreak Kit. The kits can be applied to any weapon, and they add visual effects to weapons and characters. These kits will come in a number of varieties, including the rare kind, so there should be some cool stuff for trading soon. None cooler than the Australium weapon. It’s a gold sniper rifle Valve calls “preposterously rare.” Take a gander:

That’s gotta be worth at least a dozen hats.

There are also more in-depth stats being added in Two Cities for mercs to more accurately track their performance, and if you’ve made some upgrade decisions you regret during a MvM round, you’ll also have the opportunity to start all over again. Valve says once per round your team will earn enough dough collectively to unlock a Refund. You’ll get all the money back you spent on upgrades (not consumables) and be able to change classes and or your chosen character’s build.

See you in Manhattan!
