The 3DS Did Pretty Well After The Price Drop

Nintendo 3DS sales are up significantly in the wake of the handheld’s rather large price drop last month, the NPD revealed today. In August, Nintendo sold 235,000 of the things, with 185,000 of those being sold after August 12, when the price drop became official. Pretty killer, I’d say; the price drop clearly worked.

That number marks a 260% increase for Nintendo, and that’s a large number. It’s not a number you can scoff at, anyway. I mean I guess you could scoff at it if you want to, but you shouldn’t.

After a meeting with all the over payed, over educated marketing executives to discuss how to increase sales they come up with the ingenious creative idea to reduce price. You could have paid me for that brilliant business plan. I only would have charged for a free 3DS.
