The ‘Bring Dark Souls to PC’ Petition is Getting Huge: 58,000+ Signatures

The off-hand mention by a Namco Bandai staffer on the company’s forums that a petition might help bring Dark Souls to PC has apparently resonated with gamers.

The petition, which you can see and sign right here, is up to 58,200 signatures and counting — a pretty massive response, considering the forum post that started it all only went up four days ago.

It all started on the Namco Bandai forums on its European site, in which it was asked if a PC port might be possible for From Software’s incredibly difficult, hardcore RPG, which is currently only available on Xbox 360 and Playstation 3. Namco has said it has no plans to bring the game to PC. A Namco staffer on the forum mentioned it was an issue of a lack of demand, and if PC players were really adamant about it, they might try a petition. No guarantees, obviously, but if you want to demonstrate demand for a thing, a petition isn’t a bad way to do so, and one never knows what might change a publisher’s mind.

Since that forum post, the Internet has lit up with Dark Souls fans wishing for the game to make its way to PC. Someone diligently started the petition, and players have been flocking to it. Granted, 58,000 sigs probably still isn’t enough demand, implied or otherwise, to warrant Namco bringing the game to PC. But it’s a damn good start.

If you haven’t signed the petition, maybe you should — here’s the link again. You never know; it could actually work.
