The Bureau Gameplay Shows What Mass Effect Combat Could Be

2K Games has released a new trailer for The Bureau: XCOM Declassified, essentially declassifying how the game plays, exactly.

Described as a squad-based tactical shooter, players will be able to customize agents, create tactical game-plans and execute them in real-time using an interface called Battle Focus, the lot of which is showcased in the following video:

As demonstrated, the Battle Focus interface makes it entirely possible for players to win battles by simply ordering their units around and not having to fire a single shot of their own.

The game is scheduled for an August 20 release on the PC, Xbox 360 and PS3. As we previously reported, those who pre-order the game will receive some added benefits. Find out what those are here.

What impressed me the most was the player using levitation on the friendly turret to give it high ground, which let it pick its targets easier.

Forget Mass Effect, it’s done. It’s a shell game for the few hangers-on that can’t think for themselves and still believe everything they read on IGN or Official Xbox Magazine, and will buy into the series regardless of what BioWare does. Nobody else would go near the series again with a seven-mile pole, regardless of how it plays.

@Slimer: lol, u mad bro? Mass Effect is one of the biggest franchises on the planet, and it got there on account of knowing what gamers want – simple gameplay that won’t tax them too much. Only about ten people care about leveling up or conversation trees not having 60 dialogue options each or that the ending didn’t have enough flowers and unicorns telling them life is fare – the other several million who bought the game loved it. You’re in the minority, a minority so small in fact that it’s barely even worth referring to as a minority. It’s more like a tiny bit of mould on some cheese that doesn’t affect the taste and is easily scraped off. That’s being generous, just as games developers have been in humoring your bawing for so long.

Also, you do realise the O in OXM stands for OFFICLA, right? As in it’s the official source of Xbox news. Hmm, which is more reliable do you think? An official source that actually talks to these people in the industry or some site full of anonymous brats living on minimum wage in their mom’s basement?

Go read the EULA and get educated, numknuts.
