The Crazy Games Kids Played In The 1960s…
It seems like a lot of people these days are trying to claim that video games are bad for kids and also bad for the adults that play them. The games are considered offensive and some sort of threat to society as they know it. I decided to do a little research on games kids were playing back in the 1960s. Of course they didn’t have video games, but they did have board games and such. I came across what I felt is actually a fairly offensive game called Pie Face released by Hasbro.
The game completely revolves around the joke of getting a pie slammed in your face. Talk about a possibly traumatizing experience for little kids. The game has a mechanical device that holds a sponge-like object that you cover in whipped cream. When it’s your turn, you insert your face into the target area and take your chances with the spinner. You twist the handle the exact number of times you landed on and see if it’s your unlucky spin. Points for the game were based on the number of spins you make without getting a pie slapped into your face. My entire point is that society has actually evolved. It’s a shame that some people aren’t embracing the changes. Perhaps the old people back in the 1960s thought Pie Face was a murder simulator. Who knows…. Enjoy the video from 1964! I’m curious to see what you guys think about this.

“Turn the handle, hear them click
you’ll never know when you’ll be hit!
It’s Pie Face!
Ask your mom for some cream, pile it high, it’s a scream!
Now you spin, watch the score,
never had such fun before!”
Actually i had, and it was when i didn’t get hit in the face with a cream-topped sponge… I wonder how many hallucinogens they soaked into that sponge before it got packaged…

Video Games will always be a target to small minded individuals who are in desperate need to find something -anything- to blame.
