Dark Knight Returns — Retailer Leaks Batman: Arkham Knight

We were expecting Warner Brothers to make a big announcement soon, but it appears UK retailer Game beat the publisher to the punch with a listing for Batman: Arkham Knight, the next and final chapter in Rocksteady’s lauded superhero franchise.

The listing has since been removed, but not before the all-seeing eyes of NeoGaf captured a screenshot of the product page:

Of note in the listing: Batman: Arkham Knight will “be a part of the explosive finale in the Batman Arkham series,” it will feature the Batmobile, Scarecrow will be one of the main villains, and it will launch in 2014. There is also a pre-order sticker on the Game image that indicates those who pre-purchase will be able to play as Harley Quinn.

Back in January 2013, WB registered a dozen different Batman domain names, including Batman: Arkham Knight. At that point, we’d heard rumors that the in-development project would be a prequel story featuring a wide range of playable heroes from DC’s Justice League.

Based on this leak, it appears the rumor mill missed the mark, but it sounds like WB has big plans given the “part of the explosive finale” blurb.

Stay tuned. We’re expecting the official reveal soon.
