The Elder Scrolls Online – By the Numbers

The launch of Zenimax Online’s much ballyhooed MMO, The Elder Scrolls Online, is coming tomorrow.

To celebrate, Bethesda’s showing off some of the crazy numbers that come along with a game as anticipated as this in a shiny new infographic. Among the many statistics are numbers like “five million players signed up for the beta” and “61 million items in the game.” But there is also some… stranger stuff.

For example, someone apparently offered up their left arm for a beta key! That wasn’t all that well thought out, as they need to be able to use WASD controls to move around.

Someone else (at least I hope it was someone else) proffered their first born child in exchange for a beta key. You’d think you could at least get a retail key for your first born if the kid was healthy, right?

Other numbers, like the cups of coffee consumed since May 2011 (162,784), seem a little low, as GameFront staff alone consumed close to 150,000 cups of coffee in 2013*.

You can check out the full infographic below if you want to try and tide yourself over until the game launches at midnight. Let us know what you think of their numbers!
