The Final Fantasy Bartenders Guide

The students of IT University of Copenhagen know how to have a good time. These gamers spend their Friday nights over at the Scrollbar, which has hosted some special events for them.

A number of us study games in the “Media, Technology, and Games” Masters program. In February, we made a Mario Theme Night, so the next step was of course to take the famous video game franchise, which in our opinion is Final Fantasy. So this 9th of May we hosted a big Final Fantasy Night. Not only did we decorate the bar and create unique cocktails, but the bartenders were dressed up like Final Fantasy characters.

Besides the hangovers and embarrassing pictures, the list of drinks and shots inspired by the Final Fantasy series has survived the night.

We pooled our vast knowledge of mixing and alcohols (this is Denmark, after all) to craft fifteen unique Final Fantasy-theme drinks/shots.

The three most popular cocktails was the Waltz on the Moon, the Summoner Yuna, and the Aerith. But all our recipes were very well-received. We encourage you to give them a try – but please credit us if you do!

(Note: “cl” stands for centiliter. Two cl approximately equals one “shot”)

You’ll find drinks named for some of the most memorable characters from the series as you can tell from the quote. You’ll also find the Cactuar and the Moogle as well some of your favorite powers such as Ultima and Diamond Dust.

The one I have to try is the Phoenix Down shot. The original recipe including the somewhat awkward translation follows the break.

Phoenix Down

When you feel to get Reborn

  • 1 cl Cointreau
  • 1 cl Tequilla
  • 1 cl Orange Juice
  • ½ cl Grenadine

Directions:
Shake the first 3 ingredients. Then pour Grenadine into Shot.

Notes:
This drink was inspired by our Bowser drink from the Mario Theme.
