The Last Guardian Isn’t Cancelled, GameStop Just Removed It From Its System

So The Last Guardian isn’t cancelled, everybody.

There were rumors flying around before the weekend that the upcoming title from Team ICO had been cancelled without an announcement, after GameStop removed it from its computer system and stopped taking pre-orders for the game. After the recent departure from the studio of ICO and Shadow of the Colossus creator Fumito Ueda, there was some speculation that the game might implode — though Ueda has said he’s committed to finishing the title.

Anyway, as Joystiq reports after speaking with SCEA’s Patrick Seybold and reps from GameStop, it turns out the removal of the game from GameStop’s computer system was something of an error and that SCEA hasn’t cancelled the game. GameStop says that because it didn’t have a release date for the game, it stopped taking pre-orders and the title disappeared from their computer systems. It was all a lot of hullabaloo over nothing, apparently, and you’ll be able to pre-order The Last Guardian from GameStop when SCEA releases a launch date.
