The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3DS Gets a Release Date

Like most people, we were shocked at the lack of first-party titles available at the launch of the Nintendo 3DS. Noticeably absent was a Zelda title, but Nintendo mollified the masses by saying that Ocarina of Time would be coming soon after launch. This morning, we found out just how soon, as Nintendo slipped the release date into a press release.

If you’ve already picked up a 3DS, you’ll be waiting until Sunday, June 19 to pick up the much-anticipated title, unless you’re in Europe. Our brethren across the ocean will get Ocarina of Time two days earlier, on Friday, June 17.

This date really isn’t surprise. Heck, I was more surprised that the game wasn’t ready to be the flagship launch title for the new handheld last month. You can fully expect that we’ll have coverage of this game from E3 this year, as the show is only a couple of weeks prior to the release date, meaning Nintendo will be pushing it hard.
