The Lost Crown is a new PC game from Jonathan Boakes of Dark Fall fame and is being published by Got Game Entertainment. The game should appeal to avid watchers of shows such as Ghost Hunters with those cool TAPS guys. In the game, you join two characters as they investigate a haunting, try to unravel an ancient mystery, and search for ancient treasures on England’s fog shrouded coastline, famed for its legends of smugglers, pirates, and ghosts. While wielding tools of the modern day ghost-hunter, the game is set in an interactive world of wind-swept coastlines and crumbling crypts, where you must solve puzzles and interact with the town locals. Ah, but the plot thickens! There are forces – alive and dead – who wish to prevent the disturbance of that which should lay buried.
Inspiration for The Lost Crown can be attributed to the works of Charles Dickens, M.R. James, Arthur Conan Doyle, and E.F. Benson. The game includes real ghost-hunting gadgets and your success or failure in locating spirits depends on your skill as an investigator and usage of these state of the art tools. Placing motion detectors, night vision cameras, and temperature gauges correctly will reveal a location’s haunted past, and expose apparitions.
The screens below depict: The Haunted House, The Saxton Shore, A Plague Victim, Sedgemarsh Station, and using the E.M.F. Reader. As someone who has actually been on a few ghost hunts herself, I am hoping that this game will be as accurate as possible – I understand that the storylines will border on the fantastic, which is fine – I am hoping that the accuracy in the game is applied to the actual gadgets. I plan on playing The Lost Crown when it comes out in October, so I will be sure to give you my honest opinion. For more information about this new title, please visit the official site.
