‘The Next Microsoft’ Designer Now Designing Next-Gen Xbox Brand

Remember the mock-up of “The Next Microsoft” branding that went viral last year? The designer behind it, Andrew Kim, just confirmed on his blog “Minimally Minimal” that he’s getting a job at Microsoft to work on their branding for the next Xbox.

Kim writes on his blog that when his Microsoft rebranding project went viral, he was approached by Microsoft to work on the branding for their next project, the next generation Xbox. He says that he’ll be working at Microsoft “as of Summer” this year.

“It’s true. I’m going to go work for Microsoft. When my Microsoft rebranding project went viral, I frequently got asked if I was approached by them. “Yes” is the short answer but this relationship has actually been going on for nearly 6 months,” he wrote.

“I can’t talk about the details of how things fell into place but the choice became obvious. I’ll be designing for Microsoft as of summer. I promise that I’ll make the my greatest work ever while I’m there.”

With any luck, the next Xbox will have branding far superior to Microsoft’s current lineup of products.

Well it can’t be much worse then the current branding that seems like it came out of an early 90′s time warp.
