The Order: 1886 Delayed to ‘Early 2015′

Sony has delayed Ready at Dawn’s upcoming PS4 exclusive, The Order: 1886, into “early 2015.”

At a Sony pre-E3 event in Santa Monica, Ready at Dawn co-founder Ru Weerasuriya announced the delay, saying the the extra time would be used to polish the game so that the whole experience was the best it could be.

Speaking to Eurogamer, Weerasuriya said that thanks to an “open discussion” with Sony, they were able to secure the delay.

“We have an open discussion with Sony all the time. We said, ‘Look, we can achieve the quality you expect everywhere, but delivering on this is going to take a few more months.’”

The Order was set to be a major piece of Sony’s 2014 holiday schedule, and this delay will leave a good-sized hole for them to fill. You have to wonder what they’ll plug into the gap. Odds are that we’ll find out at E3 in June.

Maybe Sony doesn’t like inexplicable letterboxing in games.
