The PS Vita Will Have an External Battery Option

So the battery life on the PS Vita isn’t that great. It’s OK, but not great. And there are situations where you might need the thing for more than 3-5 hours at a time, like, say, on a long flight across the ocean. What’s a bro to do in that situation? Well, he should pick up the “external battery” that Yoshida-san says we’ll be able to buy when the PS Vita’s meteor-like frame blows up store shelves.

Yoshida tells IGN that the external battery was announced along with all the other peripherals this week, but I don’t think that’s true, unless this battery is the “portable charger” the spec sheet refers to.

Whatever. Yoshida says it, and it is so.

This option is absolutely necessary. If I buy this thing I’d definitely buy another battery as backup but why oh why did they have to go with proprietary memory cards. Just why. It doesn’t make any sense. Sony, there is no need to make your own memory cards but if you do decide to go your own way make sure it competitive price wise or much better speed and capacity wise. But its not. Just more expensive so I ask again why Sony why?

This actually looks like a really great piece of hardware. Too bad the idea of a handheld game console is from 1984!
