Ubisoft has released a tutorial focusing on settlers needs in The Settlers: Rise of An Empire, and like people in “real-life” these needs can be a bit demanding.
The tutorial focuses a great deal on cleanliness, and the supply storage of brooms, mops and other cleaning supplies. Entertainment is also a must for your settlers, and you can add bath houses, taverns, theaters and street artists to give them something to do. One of the biggest entertainment draws is a festival – although a quick fix for unhappy settlers, the festival draws women into your town and if they find a lad they like, they may just stick around.
Beautification of the homes is also a nice touch for making your people happy. Smithies, banner makers, and other artisans can create adornments for homes, yards and the town center. Keeping your settlers pleased is you number one priority.
Having such a lovely and prosperous town will eventually draw the ire of competing towns nearby. Competitors will eventually come in and try to take over your town, and you must be ready to defend your settlers at all costs. The third installment in the tutorial series will feature military aspects of the game.
This looks like it is going to be a great sim-game, and The Settlers: Rise of an Empire is suppose to be in stores today. I for one hope that it shows up at my house this Friday as a fun new birthday present. *HINT HINT*
