The 10 Most Annoying Things About Call of Duty Multiplayer
5. Team Killing
Yeah, we know, sometimes it’s funny to kill a teammate just to hear them rage. We’ve all done it, don’t lie. But there’s seriously nothing more frustrating than a teammate who decides to play Hardcore, where friendly fire is enabled, and can’t control his trigger finger. Or even worse, has two grenades and a rocket launcher enabled, firing wherever he sees anything move. This is curbed somewhat by the game kicking the player out and putting them in probation if they do it too much, but it’s a hard threshold, so it’s very easy to troll a bit each match and stop before you actually get put in that situation. Whatever the reasoning behind the team kills, they’re annoying nonetheless, even if it is normally just some noob who doesn’t know how to play Hardcore.
If you aren’t familiar with the term, Pubstomping is when professional or amateur players join a public lobby and just absolutely decimate the other team, usually with a ridiculous kill/death ratio that pretty clearly demonstrates that they’re a tad better than the average player. This can be fun if you’re on the end dishing it out, but it’s one of the quickest ways to ruin someone else’s day when playing online, especially if they don’t play that often. I’m pretty sure that getting killed dozens of times before you can even get a SAT-COM would be frustrating for any player, no matter how often they play.
How many times have you been one kill away from that amazing killstreak only to get shot in the back by some sniper sitting in the corner of the map? It’s happened to the best of us, and yet, we continue to go back over there, trying to take them out, falling directly into the trap that they set. It’s hard to forget about them, especially when it happens again after that cross map shot just as you had forgotten about the tent they set up on the other corner of the map. If you get into a lobby with a camper, it’s best to just leave and let them ruin someone else’s day.
2. The Wannabe Rambo
If campers are annoying, than having some guy who thinks he’s Rambo is even more annoying. We’ve all seen that guy who just runs out into the middle of the battlefield, firing his gun at an opponent who is nowhere near killable, thus alerting the entire enemy team to his presence so that they can kill him. At least he lear– oh, he’s doing it again? GREAT. There’s nothing more helpful to a team than having one teammate go 7-35 when playing Team Deathmatch, which is first to 75 kills. It doesn’t matter too much in Domination, but if they aren’t careful, the wannabe Rambo will easily feed the other team all the kills they need to start dropping some major killstreaks and that’s no fun.
Squeakers is the “affectionate” title given to kids whose voices have yet to lower, causing them to sound like nothing but squeaking when yelling into their microphones. If you’re played any amount of Call of Duty over the last few years, you’ve undoubtedly encountered one. Normally, people don’t care too much, but it’s usually prefaced by them joining the lobby and immediately saying “LISTEN NO ONE YELL AT ME OR CALL ME A SQUEAKER BECAUSE I’M NOT”, which then causes everyone to do the exact opposite of what they asked. It’s a vicious circle that doesn’t really accomplish anything. Worst of all, Ghosts’ new scoreboard took away the ease of muting someone. They still yell, people still get mad. If you find yourself in a lobby where this is occurring, it’s best to just abort.
