221B BAKER STREET – Top Hat Examination
- Select the top hat from your inventory to place it on the examination table in front of you and take a closer look in a new screen, then rotate beneath this item and examine the maker’s tag inside the headband.
- Examine the grey hairs within the top hat, the scratch marks beneath both sides of the brim and the heat stain at the front of it, then rotate your perspective around to the top of this item and locate additional scratch marks on top of the brim.
- Inspect the bow in the red ribbon tied above the the top hat’s brim to finish the investigation, then approach the bookcase to the right of Holme’s bedroom door and pick up the indicated file.
- Return to your work table with the file and open the judge investigation page, then mark off each of the listed traits at the bottom by inspecting the pictures at the top for the required characteristics.
- Omit “Wears a hat” and “Grey hair” from Sir Lawrence Bromsby’s checklist, then leave out “Smokes a cigar” on Barry Amstetton’s and check everything beneath Sir Coutts Beckett to complete the investigation.
- Read the article in the “Globe Explorer” during the next cut scene, then open your map to select Judge Beckett and leave this location.

Hey I have played the first three chapters of The Testament of Sherlock Holmes and I am stuck on chapter 4 The Bishops Murder. I have followed the walk through but I cannot get the reverend to leave the room. I havethe first few deductions but when it comes to having the last two deductions I only have one and that’s flask. I am very confused and stuck as I have followed all the instructions. Please help or send me suggestions.

@Taryn,
Sometimes the order of events is important, and completing every step can be unclean. If you’ve missed something, try asking for hints and you’ll be pointed in the right direction. Press [LT] or [Space] to ask for help in-game, and you’ll earn an achievement for doing so!

It won’t let me get the letter from the filing, in Farley’s office. Help?

@Melissa,
Hmm. To get the letter from the filing, make sure you have read the note from Farley’s Desk. To open the filing cabinet, you’ll need keys from a small table in the same room. To find the correct note in the filing cabinet, look for a card with blue ink and some grease on it.
It sounds like a very tricky puzzle, is this what you’re having trouble with? If not, I’ll keep looking for a solution to your problem.
