The Walking Dead Season 2 Could Import Your Season 1 Saves
Your decisions in Telltale Games’ The Walking Dead’s first season (that’s the game that came out this year) will likely have an impact on the next five-episode season the developer is working on.
According to an interview with Red Bull UK, the company is “figuring out” how to carry saves over from the first run of the game — the story concerning Clementine and Lee — to whatever’s coming next. But things are still in the earliest of stages as far as developing Season 2.
“Right now we are just starting to form the concept for season two,” said Telltale CEO Dan Connors. “This all remains to be seen but we are definitely figuring out how to carry the saves over.”
So yeah, Clementine will remember that, it sounds like.
Connors also mentioned that Telltale hopes to give The Walking Dead treatment to some other, even bigger franchises once the company is done with this one. Potentially on the docket: Star Wars, or maybe Half-Life.
“Coming from LucasArts we always felt we could do a great Star Wars story game,” he said. “We also love the idea of building out a deeper story to a great game franchise, something like Half-Life Stories or Halo Stories.”
That’s a potentially very intriguing idea, given that Half-Life seems to be full of stories not told. Hang on, I’m about to blaspheme: The stories told around Gordon Freeman aren’t really that interesting. What about Barney’s day in, day out experience as a double agent posing as a security officer? Or Dr. Breen’s attempts to keep humanity from being rendered extinct by continually giving up his species to tyranny and exploitation? I’d love to see some of that stuff told with the emotional depth of The Walking Dead.
It probably won’t happen, but maybe Valve will take that sort of thing into consideration in one of its upcoming Half-Life 3 jokes.
What do you guys think?
