The Week in Demos and Patches: March 31-April 5

The release of GTA IV is just around the corner, and if you are holding out on purchasing any games because you are saving your money for Rockstar’s latest hit, then maybe a few free demos will keep you occupied in the meantime. This week, we only received seven demos and since there are so few of them, I decided to list all of them instead of just randomly picking the ones you may or may not be interested in, and you can view all of them after the break.

Patches on the other hand, ranged from WoW to The Sims 2: Free Time, and many more:

As always for the full list of patches, click here, and be sure and read on after the break for the list of demos.

Demos that hit this week were the following:

  1. Nitro Stunt Racing: Trial version of Nitro Stunt Racing. Defaults to demo mode, but you can unlock the rest of the game by buying a license key online.
  2. Europa Universalis: Rome: A new demo is now available for Europa Universalis: Rome, offering the chance to sample the now-gold strategy sequel. This playable demo includes playable countries Rome and Carthage.
  3. Turret Wars MP (also for Mac): Sector3 Games has released an updated demo of Turret Wars MP. Turret Wars is a fast paced 3D arcade game, where you battle against enemy gun turrets, finding and destroying them before they find and destroy you!Choose from 6 amazing playing environments, each with their own difficulties and strategies, or select random and let the game select random environments for you.Choose from four different gun turret types, each with slightly different weapon and armor or projectile features. Computer controlled enemy turrets will be chosen as a random selection of these turret types.
  4. StuntMANIA!pro (also for Mac): This new version adds a new visual effects and improved graphics, new rankings, new AIR SPEED FREAK Challenge Game, new BONUS ROUNDUP Challenge Game, and more.
  5. Night of a Billion Million Zombies (updated version): Night of a Million Billion Zombies is a 3D action shooter that challenges the player to lead a posse of survivors through a zombie-infested city! Fight! Survive! Escape! This is an updated demo for Night of a Million Billion Zombies.
  6. Avernum 5 (Mac): An updated Mac demo for Avernum 5, the latest game in the award-winning Avernum series.
  7. Rigs of Rods (Linux) : Rigs of Rods (also known as RoR), is a truck, car, airplane and boat simulator. You can drive, fly or sail in total freedom in an open environment. What makes RoR different to most simulators is its unique soft-body physics: vehicles chassis and wheels are simulated in real-time as flexible objects, giving the simulation an extremely accurate behavior, while allowing the vehicles to be simply specified by their structural composition, as a network of interconnected nodes (forming the chassis and the wheels).
