The Wii Also Getting a New, Presumably Cheaper SKU
Just yesterday Sony announced a new, cheaper SKU for the PSP, and now Nintendo has done the same for its recently cheapened Wii. The new Wii, which will be introduced at price points unknown sometime later this year, will lose its GameCube backward compatibility and controller functionality, and will be just a wee bit smaller than the Wii we know and have a love/hate relationship with these days.
As far as we know, this new Wii has only been announced for Europe, being that it’s Gamescom and all. And being that the Wii was just not too long ago reduced to $149 here in North America not too long ago, I wouldn’t be surprised if we don’t get it over here. But I also wouldn’t be surprised if we do. So whatever.
Eurogamer reports that in Europe at least the new SKU will be replacing the current Wii model.
