The Witcher 3 Story is Done, Studio Removing “Final Bugs”

CD Projekt Red has confirmed that The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt has been finished.

That, at least, was the claim of company co-founder and CEO Marcin Iwinski who recently discussed the game’s status in an interview.

“The content is locked, so no content changes are being made at this point,” he said. “The scale of the open world in the Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is unprecedented, so fear not – there is enough gameplay to keep you playing for weeks.”

Reading this, fans might be wondering, in turn, why the studio decided to delay the game’s release from a previously planned February date to May 2015. According to Iwisnki, the postponement is being used to give the development team more time to sweep for bugs.

“We are removing the final bugs and still running optimization in various areas,” he said. “What it will result in is a smoother and more engaging experience and, yes, the game looking better across all platforms.”

This would mesh well with statements from CD Projekt Red’s Adam Kicinski who also recently stated that the game had been pushed back to contend with “a lot of small errors.” He further defended the company’s decision by pointing to other “badly polished games” coming out for “next-gen platforms.”
