The Wolf Among Us Release Date Announced

Telltale Games, the folks who made me worried sick about poor little Clementine in The Walking Dead, are transforming another best-selling comic book series, and they’ll be ready to share their take on DC’s Fables on Friday. The Wolf Among Us: Episode 1 – Faith is set for launch on October 11.

Speaking to IGN, Telltale said the $5 first episode of The Wolf Among Us will arrive on PC and Xbox 360 first followed by the PlayStation 3 on TBA. You can pick up the entire five-episode series via a season pass pre-order through Telltale for a slight discount, $22.49.

After the disappointing Back to the Future game and the quick-time-event torture known as Jurassic Park the Game, Telltale finally got its adventure/story formula right with The Walking Dead, taking home a number of game of the year awards, including GOTY 2012 from Game Front. Personally, the series wasn’t quite adventure game enough for me, and I felt episodes two through four were a slog. Solid game, just not GOTY material for me (I had Dishonored and XCOM: Enemy Unknown at the top of my personal list).

For their anticipated follow-up, Telltale is taking on the popular Fables comics from DC, a series which sets up an intriguing premise: what if all of the characters from fairy tales were real and lived in today’s world? As you might guess, things can get messy. That’s where the big, bad wolf comes in. He’s Bigby Wolf, he’s the law in this Fablestown, and he’s who you’ll be playing as in The Wolf Among Us.

We’ll see how it comes together on Friday. For now, get a peek at what’s ahead in the trailer below:
